Delinquency rates of real estate loans at commercial banks in the United States from 1st quarter 2000 to 2nd quarter 2021
The lending activity of the leading commercial mortgage banking companies in 2021 showed that a significant proportion of originations volumes was in the multifamily sector. Eight of the ten highest-ranking firms had over 50 percent of their lending activity to this sector. The second most popular sector was the office sector where both Cushman and Wakefield and MetLife Investment Management reported loaning activity of about 44 percent.
The delinquency rates on real estate loans at commercial banks in the United States fell slightly between the second quarter of 2020 and the second quarter of 2021.Residential real estate loans had a higher delinquency rate at 2.41 percent, compared to 0.92 percent for commercial real estate.
